Family festival fun for visitors to Junction Inn
 
The Junction Inn, Norbury, is set to host a four-day, celebration this weekend, all to raise money for charity.

The family-orientated, canalside pub, run by landlady Alison Frizzell, are renowned for supporting many charities, in particular the Air Ambulance and Guide dogs for the blind.

And the event is due to kick off today running through to Bank Holiday Monday with entertainment and deals on food.

Registered charity, The Mikron Theatre Co, will we opening the curtain with the play, de(b)tonation, starting at 7.30pm on Friday, with food available before the show.

On Saturday, the famous Junction Carvery will be served from 6pm in the restaurant, with a deal of buying two glasses of wine and getting the rest of the bottle free.

The raffle tickets will also go on sale with all proceeds going to Guide Dogs for the Blind, with the grand draw held on Monday.

Landlady, Alison Frizzell, said: “This is entirely a charity weekend and all the money we make will be donated.

“Last year we raised around £3,000 for Air Ambulance and this year we are really pushing to reach the £1,000 target for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

“We have a great group of regulars, I love the event and raising money for charity is something we have always done.”

The Carvery will be on again, on Sunday, until 6pm, and there will be a pub quiz held in the main bar, starting at 8pm.

The quiz will consist of teams of four people, with a £50 prize to the winning team.

Assistant Manager Sue Fletcher, who has been organising the event, said: “It is a big day in our calendar and I am really looking forward to it.

“It is a very popular event so we are expecting numbers in the high hundreds over the weekend.

“We will hopefully have some live music on Saturday and other activities like bouncy castles to amuse the children, but we are quite dependent on the weather.

“We are expecting it to be busy from Thursday night and the Theatre Company are very good, starting the event.”

Back by popular demand, fill your face for £5, will be available on Monday with traditional homemade buffet style pub grub, served from 12noon, with the raffle draw taking place later in the day.

Everyone is welcome to attend the weekend event.
