The Newport Advertiser has been serving
its readers and advertisers since 1854.
Located on Newport's cobbled St Mary Street, the small
team of journalists and advertising reps is at the heart
of the town and its community, producing around 40 pages
a week of news, views, sport and features. Comprehensive
property and weekend TV guides make it an essential buy
to our 4,800 readers.
Printed on a Thursday evening on the presses at head office
in Ketley, the paper goes on sale on Friday mornings.
The Newport Advertiser is a community newspaper written
for and about the local community. People are our business,
and we aim to include full coverage from all of the town
and village clubs, groups and societies. Newport's eight
schools are major contributors to the paper, while our
Junior Sport page is a showcase for local talent.
We have weekly columns on farming, gardening and cooking,
detailed wedding and funeral pages and our reporters attend
all of the local parish council meetings. Add to that
the hundreds of stories that you come in and tell us and
it is easy to see why the Advertiser is the only paper
you need.
Samantha Taylor has been the editor for the past eight
years, a journalist with 16 years experience who began
her working life as a trainee reporter on the Newport
Advertiser. Stints on the Shropshire Star and Sunday Mercury
saw her return to the Advertiser as deputy editor in 1992,
taking over as editor three years later. |
