Generous Newport swimmers have helped raise money to send a terminally ill child to the USA.
Twenty-one swimmers, including many from the town, met at Newport Swimming Pool last Saturday to take part in a sponsored swim.
Over £2,400 was raised by swimming five miles – 360 lengths – between them.
The money will go into the Princess Faith’s Dolphin Dream Fund.
Faith Warren-Jones, from Admaston in Telford, is four years old and suffers with Mabry Syndrome, a genetic condition which only effects three families in the world.
She cannot do anything unaided and is not expected to survive into adulthood.
Faith’s older brother Oliver, who also suffered with Mabry Syndrome, recently passed away, aged eight.
Organisers hope to raise between £18,000 and £20,000 to send Faith to America next year to receive dolphin therapy.
They also want to fund a trip to Disney World in Florida.
Friend of the family Vanessa Arnold said: “We’ve already raised around £6,000 and have plenty more fundraisers planned.
“We just want to give the family some great memories.
“It was a great effort by the swimmers.”
Details of future fundraising events can be found on the Princess Faith’s Dolphin Dream Fund page on Facebook.
