Store saddles up for fundraiser

sd3500262sw28riding.jpgStaff at the Countrywide store in Newport are inviting people to saddle up for a charity fundraising weekend.

The event takes place this Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday May 28 to Monday May 31.

Rosie Brown from the Audley Avenue store said they were hoping to raise a huge sum of money for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) over the course of 12 months across their 45 branches nationwide.

She said: “RDA is an amazing charity which really transforms people’s lives.

“We have set ourselves the target of raising £50,000 for them in one year.

“In addition to bucket and tin collections our local RDA group will be joining in, we’ve organised a lucky dip for the children and a cake bake and cake stall.

“And all staff will be dressing up in horse riding gear.”

Countrywide is the leading UK business in supplying products and advice to the rural community.

The specialist store has chosen RDA as its charity of the year. The group is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through the provision of horse riding and carriage driving.

RDA is entirely reliant on volunteers and donations to deliver its services.

Ed Bracher, Chief Executive of RDA said, “Countrywide’s exceptional support of RDA is greatly appreciated and we hope this fundraising weekend will be a huge success. Many thanks go to all the staff at Countrywide who have given so generously of their time.”
