A new view of sports action

np-sd3458784sp09tv.jpgPunters at the Pheasant Inn have been stunned and amazed after watching the town’s first ever viewing of 3D TV.

Landlord Paul Quinn staged the revolutionary experience last Saturday for the eagerly anticipated Manchester United verses Chelsea match.

With hoards of people donning the specially designed glasses, spectators packed into the town pub to see the beautiful game brought to life.

Further celebrations were also in store this week as the Pheasant was named as Enterprise Inns’ flagship bar for the football World Cup campaign.

Mr Quinn said the weekend was a huge success and he is now lining up a series of other 3D viewings throughout April.

He said: “ The 3D TV went down a storm on Saturday. The customers were stunned by picture quality. The brewery, Enterprise Inns, also sent out their own photographer on Saturday to get some shots because we are being used as the headline pub for the World Cup.

“We are being used as a way of showing other pubs in the group how to market themselves with the 3D TV.”

The Pheasant has been singled out by Enterprise Inns from more than 9,000 of their other pubs across the country to be the leading light in marketing the 3D TV for the World Cup.

New theatre style seating set to built by town furniture business, Classic Furniture, will also bring changes to the interior in the coming months.

Designed to compliment the 60 inch and 70 inch 3D screens people will be given the chance to see several more matches before the summer’s big tournament is rolled out.

Matches being screened in 3D are as follows: Blackburn v Man Utd on Sunday, April 11, at 1.30pm; Man City v Man Utd on Saturday, April 17, at 12.45pm; Chelsea v Stoke City on Sunday, April 25, at 4pm.
