Town’s five-star coffee shop

np-sd3439096sw20marshalls.jpgNewport’s newest coffee shop has received the thumbs up from Telford & Wrekin Council – by achieving five stars for hygiene in a spot check this week.

Marshall’s Shoffee Shop, on St Mary Street, was awarded top marks in the council’s latest round of Scores on the Doors.

Owner of the modern coffee shop, Sam Marshall, said she was delighted with the recognition.

She said: “We’re really pleased. We’re just making sure everything is right and we’re following the procedures.

“I’ve worked in food retail for quite a while so I’m quite knowledgeable about food standards.

“But nevertheless, we’re quite surprised to get it first time.

“Now it’s all about keeping the five stars.”

Marshall’s Shoffee Shop opened in February with a tattoo parlour – Flying Juice Tattoo – upstairs.

Ms Marshall said both businesses had got off to a good start.

She added: “Things have started well and we’re starting to see our regulars coming back time and again.

“But some people don’t know that we’re here yet, so that is something we need to work on.

“Hopefully things will pick up and then we can think about taking on another member of staff to help out downstairs. The tattooing has really taking off.”
