Mere Park is strutting to a different beat after laying down a catwalk and playing host a charity fashion show.
The event, held in the garden centre, attracted a sell-out crowd and was organised by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill store and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Customers and staff joined together to parade this season’s latest fashions while all proceeds were donated back to charity.
A total of £524 was raised through ticket sales and now another fashion is being planned for later in the year.
Co-organiser Mike Foulkes from the Gnosall Macmillan shop said the event raised a great spirit.
He said: “About 100 people turned up and all the models were either shop staff or customers. We managed to get the word out and we eventually sold out of tickets, so there was a really good crowd on the day.
“The Edinburgh Woollen Mill helped to make it really enjoyable and the town mayor also came down to support the event.
“He very kindly helped out as the compere, introducing people onto the catwalk and a lot of fun was had by all the models.”
The event which was held at the beginning of the month lasted two hours as the models strutted their stuff down the cat walk.
A 20 per cent discount was given on all clothes and the £4 entry charge was donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Supervisor from the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Vicki Tapley said it was a genuine community effort.
She said: “It all started when Sally Hogarth from Macmillan came into the shop as a customer. We got talking and I said we were looking to find a good charity to run the show with.
“After teaming up with Macmillan we managed to get lots of our bubbly customers involved and we would really like to thank them for volunteering.
“We would also like to thank Goldstone Hall in Cheswardine for supplying the chairs and Farmer & Tapley Building & Development for helping to deliver them.
“We have been here for three months now, business is good and we are really pleased with the success of the event just through word of mouth.
“There are a lot of customers who keep coming back and we are hoping to organise another fashion show with Macmillan in September for our winter collection.”
