Rampant Newport Town can tie up promotion tomorrow - with five games to spare.
Unbeaten Town face struggling Wrockwardine Wood at Shuker Fields (2.30pm).
A win would put them on 49 points - a tally large enough to guarantee at least a second place finish in the Shropshire County first division.
That, in their first season since re-forming, would be an achievement in itself. But table-topping Town have far greater aspirations and are still on track to score a remarkable treble.
Those dreams were kept alive with a hard-fought 2-1 League Cup win over FC Hodnet last weekend, after extra time.
Jez Herman’s winner was enough to book a semi-final tie with County Premier League leaders St Martins.
Boss Richard Priest said his team were made to fight hard. He said: “We were much the better side in the first half and controlled the game and should of been two or three up at half time.
“The second half wasn’t as good but I think we were worth our win.”
Town dominated the first half and took a deserved lead after just 12 minutes when Paul Quinn’s cross was headed home by brother Martin.
Harman then twice came close to doubling Town’s lead but was denied by the woodwork on both occasions.
Hodnet were let back into the game when a rare mistake from skipper Steve Handley gifted the hosts an equaliser.
The second half was a more even contest with both sides struggling to create any meaningful chances.
Debutant Liam Bould went closest for Town but his strike from distance went just over the bar.
Harman grabbed what proved to be the winner just six minutes into the additional 30 after being picked out by Quinn’s intelligent pass.
Hodnet had the ball in the net in the dying moments, but it was disallowed.
Meanwhile, Town hold their race night tomorrow evening at the Cosy Hall.
The event may now double up as a promotion party.
Club Secretary Darren Jones said: “The event will help to boost funds for next season and it will bring a nice end to our first season.”
Entry is free and races begin at 7.30pm.
