EDGEAhead race a success

edgethumb.jpgRunners gathered in glorious weather last Sunday for the annual EDGEahead fun run.

The competitive outing attracted a field of more than 200 runners raising around £1,500 for Meningitis UK.

The event took place at the Harper Adams University campus and included a 5km fun run and 10km senior race.

Organiser Fiona Wilkinson said she was delighted with the support shown.

She said: “It was a wonderful event again and it was the best weather we have ever had with 267 people taking part.

“There are so many people to thank who helped with the organising, from the staff and students at Harper Adams, to my friends and family and a number of local businesses.

“The races were very competitive and the finish of the 5km race was neck and neck, so that was very exciting.

“There were also lots of great fancy dress outfits and the overall prize was given to a group of girls who were dressed as pirates.”

For the last three years the event has been replicated in Australia, however it was postponed on this occasion due to intense heat.

Competitors of all ages were invited to take part with prizes dished out for winners along with those in the best fancy dress.
