A local couple have predicted fatal accidents on the A41 if speed limits are not reduced.
Bridget Potts and Peter Parker, who live in The Coach House at Woodcote Hall face a daily battle getting in and out of their home.
They believe problems on their stretch of the A41 are already critical already but plans for a quarry at Woodcote Hill will only increase traffic.
The couple have met with council chiefs privately to try and resolve the problem.
And Mr Parker expressed the morbid reality of the situation they deal with on a daily basis.
He added: “I took my car to the breakdown services in Telford, just before Christmas. When I indicated where I lived I was shown a badly damaged lorry which had obliterated a car on the A41 by the nursing home entrance.
“The mechanic said he would never forget picking up the body parts from the carriageway and washing away the blood.
“The road needs to be widened and the speed limit should be reduced to 40mph or it will only be a matter of time before someone else is killed.”
Mr Parker said he was fully supportive of plans for Woodcote Hall Care Home to build a 90 bedroom extension - adding the issue was the speed limit, which he believes the council must take responsibility for lowering.
The care home had initially planned to create a new entrance to the facility, but that option has now scrapped.
“Their latest plans are to keep it where it is and to cut trees, and lower a retaining wall,” said Mr Parker.
“Although this will increase visibility it will not decrease the speed of traffic so it is totally inadequate when assessed against the traffic survey, the articles, the accident experiences, the development of the quarry and the development of Woodcote Hall.”
The borough council has identified the A41 as a safety priority completing a review of accidents along the stretch from Woodcote to Standford Bridge.
This review is on show at Sambrook Village Hall today between 2pm and 8pm.
