Rampant Newport Town closed the gap on Shropshire County first division leaders Ketley Bank with their second consecutive 7-1 victory.
Goals from six different scorers gave Town the emphatic triumph last weekend against Shrewsbury side Meole Brace.
The result puts Newport within four points of leaders Ketley Bank United - but crucially Town have two games in hand.
Player/manager Richard Priest said: “The game was over as a contest by half time and we should of been 10 up at the break.
“With Ketley only managing a draw, this was an important win for us to close that gap between us and them at the top.”
The home side had the lead after just eight minuets when Steve Handley was brought down by the Meole ‘keeper following good play by Jez Harman.
The visiting goalkeeper escaped with a yellow card, but he was powerless to stop Handley’s spot kick.
Lewis Ainsworth made it 2-0 after latching onto Priest’s through ball and Carlos Ratcliffe rounded the ‘keeper for number three on 15 minutes, his 14th goal of an already fruitful campaign.
Paul Quinn hammered home a 20 yard free kick to put the result beyond any doubt before Nathan Hollaway got in on the act to make it 5-0 - all this before the half time whistle.
Meole grabbed a second half consolation after a mix-up in the Town defence.
But the joy was short-lived as Harman smashed home from eight yards and Hollaway wrapped things up with his 12th of the season on 77 minutes.
Unbeaten Town face a tricky trip to third place Wroxeter tomorrow missing Wayne Gaskell and Quinn.
But there could be a place on the bench for Calum Muir, who has finally recovered from an injury he picked up in early September.
Meanwhile, Town have been drawn away to Shropshire County premier league strugglers Ludlow Town Reserves in the last eight of the Williams & Picken Shropshire Junior Challenge Cup. That match will be played on Saturday, December 5.
