Two coaches from Newport Gym Club have been flying the town flag after receiving top awards at the West Midlands Amateur Gymnastics Association.
Paul Waters, who works mainly with the development groups at the club, was given a long service award in recognition of over ten years commitment to one club.
While Jason Tucker, head coach at Newport with specific responsibility for boys’ coaching, was awarded a young coach of the year prize.
Jason has made sure the boys at the Newport club have consistently represented the region in national gymnastics finals.
Also recognised was volunteer Tracey Perry for her long service on the club committee.
Club Chairman Chris Belyavin said: “I’m very proud of all three of these award winners.
He said: “Newport Gym Club now has in place a committed group of coaches who will help move the club forward both in terms of recreational gymnastics but also as one offering serious opportunities for competitive gymnasts.
“I’m also pleased to see one of our volunteers recognised for her fantastic service to the club.”
