Woodcote Hall celebrates triple award joy

Woodcote HallWoodcote Hall is revelling in regional acclaim this week after reaching the final of the West Midlands Provision In Care awards.

Three members of the team made it through as finalists at the award ceremony in Coventry last Saturday.

Manager Kay Davies stole the show after being named Care Home Manager of the Year. Activities co-ordinator Gaby Goodwin also celebrated as a finalist in the ancillary support category, while deputy matron Jade Marante-Egam was shortlisted in the night nurse section.

Kay is delighted with the continuing improvements at Woodcote Hall and she said staff had worked very hard to achieve success.

She said: “It was a grand event and we had a lot of support with around 24 people there on the night from head office and staff to friends and family.

“We were all interviewed for this award and each individual had to make a video presentation.

“I was up against five other managers and there was a huge cheer when my name came from the golden envelope.

“We have worked very hard over the last 18 months and we have strength across the board with Gaby and Jade both finalists in their sections. We all came away with lovely glass trophies which were presented to us by Cheryl Baker - of Bucks Fizz fame.”

The recognition comes after great success at the more local Shropshire Provision in Care Awards where four members of the team received certificates as finalists.

But Kay said the hard work will not stop here and they are continuing to work on improving standards.

She said: “We have worked particularly hard on the palliative care programme with the Macmillan nurses for end of life care. Improvements have also been made to the night team and the activities we provide.

“We are now focussing on the catering, raising the standards to meet the specialists nutritional needs of the residents. So we are working towards the Healthy Eating Award with Telford and Wrekin Council.”
