Sheriffhales fourth Country Fair and Scarecrow Festival saw record crowds last weekend as the village came to life and vital cash was raised.
The event on Saturday was attended by more than 3,500 people and raised money for the construction of a new village hall.
Fair co-ordinator Stephen Yates said it was fabulous day.
“The whole village came to life and every one came out to lend a hand,” he said.
“All the hard work from the dozen or so people who organise it really paid off and we were helped with the glorious weather.
“We sold out of everything on the day. It was very successful and the village came up trumps. We also managed to raise £15,000 which means the overall profit will be in the region of £14,000.
“This will be a great contribution to the village hall and the fair has become a great event in the yearly calender.”
The family day out included the famous scarecrow trail leading people from garden to garden.
There were also bouncy castles, coconut shys, tombolas along with bric-a-brac, commercial and homemade produce stalls.
Musical performances from the Salvation Army and a steel band also kept the crowds entertained.
A total of £220,000 had been raised prior to the event for the village hall fund but the hall fundraising committee is still looking to collect more cash.
The success of the recent fair has helped make valuable inroads to meet the overall target, with the building work due to go out to tender in the next few weeks.
