Salon opens for pet pooches

Dog groomingWith Newport’s High Street full of hairdressers it was only a matter of time before dogs got their own salon.

Underhill Close resident, Victoria Kirkby, has opened her own dog grooming business which is already proving a hit.

The 23-year-old moved from Poochi Pets, which closed earlier this month, and re-launched her grooming business, Ugly Pugly, at The Garden Room at 93 High Street.

“It’s been going very well so far. My books are pretty full and I have a lot of people who knew me in the old business who have stayed with me,” said Victoria.

“Quite a lot of people come from around the area with their dogs so the support is good.”

The shop, which also sells dog grooming products, undertakes all types of grooming from nail clipping and ear cleaning to flea treatment and trimming.

Victoria added: “Our salon is clean and modern and most importantly dog friendly. We do our utmost to ensure that your dog is in a safe and comfortable environment.

“Special attention is given to nervous dogs and owners are more than welcome to stay with their pet throughout the grooming process.”
