A village resident has spoken out this week after finding concrete asbestos dumped in the Chetwynd Firs wood.
Edgmond resident, Brian Howett, filled 20 large bags full of rubbish which was strewn across the site.
And he fears the public will be thrown off the privately owned land if the tipping continues.
Mr Howett, who has lived near Chetwynd Firs for 10 years, said everything has been dumped there - including the kitchen sink.
He said: “This location has been all too frequently used to dump old tyres, hundreds of them, a couple of bathroom suites, toilets, sacks of tiles, fridges, TVs and even a caravan.
“The list goes on and a couple of weeks ago I found a large amount of concrete asbestos from someone’s garage.
“It was cleared up at some expense to the council and a specialist company had to be engaged as it was a hazardous substance.”
Mr Howett even went to the trouble of painting a sign to try and deter the phantom tippers.
Cabinet Member for Environment, councillor Stephen Bentley, said the council take the issue of fly tipping extremely seriously. He said: “One of our promises is to clear fly-tipping from council owned land within two working days.
“On this occasion, the council’s contractor was removing a fly-tip from a council owned lay-by near Chetwynd Firs when it was reported there was some asbestos dumped nearby.
“This lay across the border of private and council owned land. However, the council received quite a number of calls from concerned members of the public.
“So it acted in the public interest by having the whole fly-tip cleared.
“It is frustrating for councils and landowners alike who have to bear the cost of removal of fly-tips from their land.
“Telford and Wrekin residents can dispose of their rubbish including asbestos waste free of charge by taking it to the Granville CRC where it will be disposed of safely.”
Fly tipping can be reported directly by phoning on 01952 384384.
