Thousands of visitors will descend on Chetwynd Deer Park this Saturday for the 100th Newport Show.
This year’s event is set to be a barnstorming affair and early sales have pointed to a record gate, with organisers hoping to top last year’s crowd of 12,000.
And with an action packed programme of events the entertainment is guaranteed to keep families amused.
This year’ show president Robert Watson Jones said the event was a proud part of the town’s heritage.
He said: “The show remains a fabulous tradition in Newport and a real highlight on the social calender.
“Only war, foot and mouth and agricultural depression have ever stopped it being staged and this year more than ever the show organisers are making it one to remember.”
Judging will begin early with horse classes from 8am, livestock at 9.30am and the canine section at 10am.
And the bumper range of attractions will include motorcycle stuntmen, dance troupes, bands, morrismen, gymnastics, birds of prey and performing dogs.
New this year will be the parade of farm machinery through the ages and a dog show for the humble mongrel to shine alongside the annual Kennel Club recognised contest for pedigrees.
The food hall will be brimming with the region’s finest delicacies and there will be bags of shopping opportunities with many traders setting up stalls.
Tickets are priced as follows: Families (two adults and two children) £25, adults £10, senior citizen £8 and child £4.
They are available from various outlets in the area, alternatively call the show office on 01952 810814 or visit www.newportshow.co.uk.
