The latest round of Scores on the Doors are in with two town businesses just making the legal requirement after being branded “adequate.”
On the inspectors’ latest visit to town, two eateries, two nursing homes, a village shop and village nursery were inspected. Premises are inspected for food hygiene, safety and management.
Scoring four out of five stars was Edgmond Owls nursery and Ruben’s Nursing Home who inspectors said were ‘very good with a high standard of compliance with food safety legislation and robust food safety management’.
After scoring no stars at their last inspection, Mischa’s Restaurant has revamped the premises and scooped three stars last month. But scoring the least amount of marks during this round of inspections, with two stars, is Woodcote Hall Nursing Home and Edgmond Village Stores.
Woodcote Hall have not improved their rating since their last investigation but matron, Kay Davies, said the day the inspection was carried out was unfortunate.
She said: “We have had a lot of alterations to the building and it was being tiled at the time, so that marks us down because everything was not clean and perfect.
“With regards to the management book, she said some of it needed a little more work, but she found that on a lot of inspections people were struggling with the book. They are now looking to get more managers trained in it.
“But we hope to get more stars the next time and the inspector has put us forward to enter the Healthy Eating Award, which you can’t enter if you are going to remain on a low score.”
