OAPS lose £1,000 holiday

Four local pensioners have had sleepless nights this week, after being robbed of their summer holiday and left £1,000 down, when the bus company they booked with went bust.

Barbara Wickstead, 77, arranged the holiday to the Isle of White with Butters Coaches along with three of her friends from Edgmond.

After they were all asked to pay £318 in advance the company folded a week later with no contact or promise of a refund.

The company stopped trading on Wednesday, July 1, and a creditors’ meeting has been called for July 23.

All tours and excursions have been cancelled and the firm is unsure about whether monies paid can be reimbursed.

In a statement released through accountants Moore Stephens, Lesley and Erica Mackintosh from Market Drayton-based Butters Coaches said they were upset the firm had to close but blamed the move on the recession. However payments were taken until the day of liquidation.
